3 Family Restaurants Worth the Drive Near Charles City, IA

When the family is complaining that they’re hungry and you just don’t have the energy to come up with a good meal at home, take everyone out to one of the many family restaurants here in Charles City, IA. We’ve put together a list of our favorites for your convenience.

1. Cedar River Pizza Co.

Everyone loves a good pizza, and this venue uses quality meats and fresh veggies, all served at affordable prices with friendly service. Choose from small, medium, large, jumbo, or a kids’ size. Choose from meat toppings, such as hamburger, pepperoni, Italian sausage, and Canadian bacon. Other toppings include mushrooms, green olives, onions, pineapple, green peppers, sauerkraut, tomatoes, kalamata olives, jalapenos, and spinach.

You can also customize your pizza. For example, add extra cheese or no cheese; ask for the crust to be well-done or lightly cooked; or choose an olive oil base instead of traditional sauce. Find this establishment at 105 N. Main St. #1. Stop by Wednesday through Sunday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

2. Dave’s Restaurant

The cozy atmosphere of this restaurant creates a nice spot for breakfast or lunch. You’ll love the Sunday breakfast buffet, served from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., and the Sunday brunch buffet from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. They also have an American lunch buffet, which is served Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Or you can choose the soup and salad bar only. They also serve a buffet on Friday nights from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The kids will find lots of options at the buffet as well. If you order off the menu, options include appetizers, soup, salad, burgers, and sandwiches. Dave’s is located at 809 S. Grand Ave. and they are open every day.

3. Plaza Mexico

Enjoy authentic Mexican food here at 701 S. Grand Ave. Start with a peach, mango, or strawberry margarita while sampling the chips and salsa. We recommend dining for lunch for their specials, which run Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for just $7.50. Choose from chalupas, chili rellenos, tostadas, enchiladas, burritos, and more.

They also boast nearly a dozen child’s plates, including a mini burrito, mini flauta, taco, mini chicken breast, tamale, or chicken nuggets. All, except for the nuggets, are served with rice and beans. They are open seven days a week.
