The Plaza Mexico is at 701 S Grand Ave and open from 11 AM until 9 PM Sunday through Thursday and until 10 PM on Friday and Saturday nights. This is a beloved local institution that’s perfect for family meals and offers great service. Their salsa and chips are particularly beloved here, and people most often rave about the great service and the great prices, especially if you have hungry kids to feed.
Try any of their carnes plates, especially the steak jalisco and their unique Plaza Mexico Carnes, which is bacon-wrapped shrimp with carne asada, rice, and beans. Kids’ plates include chicken nuggets and chicken breast for any who don’t want the Mexican offerings, like a quesadilla, mini burrito asada, tacos, and lots more.
Pub on the Cedar
At 101 N Jackson St, Pub on the Cedar isn’t a Mexican restaurant, but it still offers some of the best flavors of Mexico you’ll enjoy in our town. They’re open from 11 AM until 10 PM Sunday through Thursday and until 11 PM on Friday and Saturday, but their kitchen hours are a little different. If you want some Mexican food, come between 11 AM and 9:30 PM Monday through Thursday and from 11 AM to 10:30 PM on Friday and Saturday. Their kitchen is closed on Sundays.
If you’re in the mood for good Mexican food, go here and order the fajita salad. That’s delicious grilled chicken topped with green peppers and onions, a three-cheese blend, pico de gallo, salsa, tortilla chips, and, of course, guac. You’ll also want to try their chips and queso or chips and salsa, and you can’t go wrong with their fantastic quesadilla, either. You can get that plain or dress it up with either chicken or bacon (yes, bacon). Their quesadilla comes with a blend of mozzarella and cheddar cheeses, and is served with salsa and sour cream, although you can add guacamole and other things for a small upcharge.
